Microsoft has released a new photo editing app for the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950XL, the Lumia Photos app.
The Windows Phone 8.1 update includes a number of improvements to the Lumia apps, including the addition of a new camera module that can record video of photos, as well as support for a new batching mode for photos.
The Lumia Photos software was introduced earlier this year and it was supposed to arrive on Windows Phone as a Windows 8.0 app for Nokia’s Lumia phones.
However, the update is a bit different.
Instead of bringing the app to all Lumia devices, Microsoft has only included it on the Lumia 925 and Lumia 935.
The app features four camera modes, including a wide angle one, a portrait mode, a still image mode and a slideshow mode.
The camera module can record up to 4K video at 30fps, which is better than what Nokia used with its Lumia 920 and Lumia 1020 cameras.
The photos and videos captured with the camera module are stored locally on the device, and the app allows users to upload the photos to a social media platform.
Microsoft said that users can also export the photos as a video file, as it has done for other Nokia Lumia devices.
Windows Phone 8 users will be able to download the app on April 4 for free, while those on Windows 8 and Windows Phone 7 will get it on April 16.
The update also includes some other minor updates, including support for the new Nokia Lumia Camera app, which Microsoft announced earlier this month.
