Bleacher Update New York (NY) Giants QB B.J. Bucky Brooker is the first player taken in the 2017 NFL Draft.
B.B. is an absolute wild card.
Bucky Brooks is one of the best quarterbacks in this year’s class and he’s the only guy who can make the Giants a contender in the NFC East.
He could be a future franchise QB, but his game is not elite.
So far in his career, Brooks has completed 68% of his passes for 1,500 yards and 12 TDs with 10 interceptions.
This year, Brooks is expected to be the starter, but if he gets hurt, the Giants are going to have to make a change.
Bucky Brookers first NFL career starts are against the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Giants are currently 0-3 and rank last in the NFL in total defense.
They’re also 0-2 against the run.
It will be tough for the Giants to keep up with the Jacksonville and Tampa Bay defenses.
The Jets and Titans are in the same spot as the Giants in the AFC East.
Both teams have a lot of talent and should be able to challenge for the top spot.
Bonded to the Jets, Brooker will have a tough time making the Jets a contender.
He’ll have to work with new offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.
After watching the Jets defense play in training camp, I think Brooker might struggle against some of the more talented quarterbacks in the league.
Brooker will need to play a lot better to compete with the likes of Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota, and Christian Hackenberg.
If Brooker doesn’t improve on his recent performances, I’m not sure if the Jets can contend.
Even though Bucky is not a good fit for the Jets offense, I don’t think they should trade up in the first round.
He’s a perfect fit on the Giants roster.
Brooker is projected as a 4th round pick.
We’ve been told he’s not a lock for the first pick.
If he falls in the second round, I’d love to see him go back to college.
I like the idea of Bucky as a developmental project.
He could eventually become the starter for the team.
A lot of draft pundits and fans believe that the Giants should take a QB in the top 10.
Brooker should get the chance to prove them wrong.
